A Drawing a Day (Year Five) Complete!

Aloha Friends!

I am a firm believe in drawing. I love it. For the past five years (give or take) I've done a drawing a day. I have found that this is a great way to generate ideas, relax and try new things! Here are a few of my favorites from my drawing a day (year five) series!

I have found that doing a drawing a day, even when you don't feel like, can lead to some wonderful and exciting new directions for your artwork. If you want to see the whole thing, please check out my flickr page or peak into my teacher planner for more! Mahalo!

What image would you want on a bag? or  as a print? What image says Hawaii like no other? Let me know! Any idea I use and make into a art I'll send you a free hand made print! Cheehoo!

"The Waves on the Sea"

Aloha Friends,

I just finished a new drawing "The Waves on the Sea." this last year has brought a lot of change and growth and I see that movement like the waves on the sea; constant, beautiful and healing. "Sea Birds" (Large Wall Time Lapse Video)

This project was done as a part of the Salem Art Association's Annual Project Space.

It is titled "Sea Birds" because it is the first in a series. This time lapse mural series is about my experience living and working in Hawaii and Oregon. I travel frequently and am fortunate enough to always be near an ocean. My deep love of and connection to the sea and the sky promoted and influenced the imagery in these videos.

HFD Fire Prevention Week 2014 Mural

Aloha Friends!

I had to take a quick film editing break today work on the Honolulu Fire Department's 2nd annual Mural Painting Event! This year's Fire Prevention Week 2014 Theme: "Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!" The murals will be on view at firehouses island wide during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5-11. I was lucky enough to once again work with my friend and fellow painter Jessica Orfe and also got to meet a new friend Michy Moody. What a lovely (and hot!) day it was today. It's always good to see the community come together to make something new and, in this case, educational! Bonus!

Check out the photos below of the two panels we got to work on:

Project Space Mural 2014 (Day Ten) Small Wall

Aloha Friends!

If you recall I not only had a 30ft wall to paint on but a smaller 15ft wall. This wall did not change in time lapse fashion like the large wall but was a fun experiment in spontaneous painting, (i.e. not planning ahead just painting whatever came to mind). Overall I am pretty pleased with how this turned out. Special thanks to my best friend Gretchen Light who helped repaint a lot of the white areas! Mahalo lady! You are the best!
