Project Space Mural 2014 (Day Seven)

Aloha Friends!

The wall is really starting to show some history today! I love seeing the various layers of paint and different bits of the previous images show through day by day.

Today will most likely be the last full scene change. Tomorrow will be the beginning of the final image, which I am going to take a few days to compete and hopefully really refine. I'll also be finishing the small wall this week and will be posting updates as they happen. I will also be wrapping up the time lapse video just in time for the August 6th opening. Project Space Mural 2014 (Day Five) Small Wall

Aloha Friends!

Yesterday I took a little break from the large wall piece to paint a smaller wall. I didn't plan out this image but let it happen organically based on my theme and what I had already painted on the larger wall. Not planning is a new thing for me, I am usually fairly organized when it comes to my images but this time I decided to see what happens. So far I am pretty pleased with the result. This is not finished yet, I am thinking about adding some color, but this is where I am so far. Thanks for looking!

Project Space Mural 2014 (Day Four)

Aloha Friends!

Whew! Today was a challenge! For a minute there I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do a complete scene change. I have family coming into town tonight so my day ended up being a bit shorter than expected. But no worries! A few eyeballs, a few clouds and one volcano later we are done with day four! Cheehoo!

Project Space Mural 2014 (Day Three)

Aloha Friends!

Today is Day Three of my epic mural project (At least it feels epic according to the pain in my feet and back, oi!) Anyway, today's image was supposed to turn into a large reef but ended up being a bit of a two plant dance. At least that's what it looks like to me. At this point I have painted a total of five complete scene changes in three days. I am calling each finished mural image a scene since they are all individual pieces that, together, will form the final time-lapse film. Three days and seventeen hours of painting so far. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Onward!

Project Space Mural 2014 (Day Two)

Aloha Friends!

Today is day two of my Salem Oregon, Project Space Mural! I am very excited to see how things are starting to transition from one image to the next organically. After all is said and done there will be a time lapse video that shows the process. Check back in a few weeks to see the final product! Till then I will keep posting in-process photos and, as always, suggestions are always welcome. My theme has to do with the ocean and more specifically my movement between Oregon and Hawaii. If you think of some imagery or a story I should add, please leave me a comment! Mahalo!

Project Space Mural 2014 (Day One)

Project Space is a dynamic (June to September 2014) contemporary art opportunity. Taking place at Liberty Plaza in downtown Salem, Project Space offers juried exhibits by regional artists, studio space, in addition to performances and other events that encourage community dialogue.

Project Space is designed to bring out the experimental, the creative, the unexpected, the large, the small, the moveable and moving; embracing new avenues of expression.

Artists working in any media, including, but not limited to painting, sculpture, video, interactive media, installation, photography, performance, theater, sound and music, movement and dance are invited to apply to participate in the program. Approaches are fantastical, practical, high-tech, low-tech, humorous and serious. Exhibits rotate several times over the two-to-three month period, starting in June and ending in August. The specific schedule will be organized around the requirements of proposals chosen.
