A Week of White (Part II)
I created this video about how it felt to be wearing this color all week. If you look closely...

A Week of White

So I have begun a new art piece, also an assignment, but something that has gotten me all inspired. The task at hand was to wear one color, and only that color all week, for seven days, straight. This small chunk of time is based off of a piece performed and lived by artist Linda Montano's "7 Years of Living Art," Which she performed twice. The artist's intention was to wear one color, head to toe, for one year at a time. Each of the color corresponded to a chakra color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and white. To read more about her 14 year life/art work please visit http://bobsart.lindamontano.com/ I assure you her research and they way she tells her story is fascinating.

Also look at Steven Reigns. He does a similar work at http://www.stevenreigns.com/7years/ And explain each year and color in massive detail. Linda tells her work as a story and lets the viewer discover their own understanding and take away smaller bits. Steven on the other hand, lays it all out for you and has a page featuring links to other artists out there who are doing something similar.

I picked white. I am living a week of white. I have to say I don't own any white clothes nor do I really like wearing it. I could have picked blue, which I've actually been trying to make my one color. It's funny to me that while fazing ever other color out of my wardrobe in favor of being dominate by blue, this project should present itself to me. I felt that had I picked blue it would have been too easy. I love blue, wear it all the time, feel very comfortable surrounded by blue. White on the other had makes me feel vulnerable and out of my comfort zone. So in order to actually submerge myself in this color I went to goodwill and picked out a white wardrobe.
After three days I am starting to feel comfortable. not in the sense that wearing all white feels natural, not as natural as wearing all blue would. but like I am in a little cocoon, confident in my shield, knowing that I have made this decision to wear my work. I am beginning to feel happy about my self.
White Chakra is the seventh chakra, Sahasrara. Pituitary, extreme unction, joy. The chakra prayer for white is as follows: Hold the told of your head and say "I now believe that my seventh chakra is respected by me is nurtured by me and is given my loving attention. I die by surrendering daily, by the minute, by the hour. Now I trust all beneficial prompting and know who I really am. As a result I shine with inner joy, die of feelings of separation, am inwardly content and know how to adjust daily so that I can feel bliss."
Beside challenging myself to wear a color I didn't like, I felt a connection to this prayer because I am constantly living my life in an effort to achieve joy and happiness. As the week goes on I will post pictures and sketches of my journey.

I am currently working on my own website, www.bozschurr.com. Since website html and all the other little technicalities are not my strong point, it's going to be slow going. But it's up there so feel fee to check it out!

(Gold)fish
A Short film I made over the holiday break. I find that if I don't do a little something artsy (all the time) I go a little nuts. This is just for fun. I found the music off of newgrounds in case you are wondering. Awesome Awesome site for free original music. The footage was taken in Portland Oregon
p.s. I only spent a few hours on this hence the quality, but please enjoy anyway and feel free to check out my other videos on youtube. Just http://www.youtube.com/user/BozSchurr
This is a little something I made for my family for a present. Enjoy.
